Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress best famous for her role in Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. Her first fame was her 1980s role in Tezaab where she co-starred with the veteran actor Anil Koopor. In the next film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared as well. Born into an Mumbai middle class family and began dancing at a young age. At the age of 16 she started acting, and suffered for several years as the majority of her early films failed. She eventually became one of the biggest actresses of Indian films. Her marriage led to a hiatus from her acting career. Later, she returned. In the past, she was an integral character in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the struggle of women in India. Dixit has been nominated 15 times for Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of these. Padma Shri - the fourth most highly regarded civilian award in India - was given to Dixit. Her reputation also includes as a social activist.
